Our elementary school send packages to Iraq on a regular basis. Packages filled with candy, games, and other things for the troops to give out to the kids over there. I am sure there are schools and organizations all across the U.S. that do the same.

Drdon is right. Barbaric situations often bring out the worst in people, and some people "crack" sooner than others. No one country has a monopoly on good or evil. A certain percentage of the people from any country would behave that way under the circumstances. No amount of training is going to eliminate these base instincts that (like it or not), probably reside (to some degree) in all of us.
The solution is probably not better training. The solution is to avoid going there in the first place.

PHOENIX-Scientists at a weapons laboratory say they have trianed bees to sniff out explosives in a project they say could have far reaching applications for US homeland security and the Iraq war.
Researchers at the Los Alamo National Laboratory in New Mexico said they trained honeybees to stick out their proboscious-the tube they use to feed on nectar-when they smell anything from cars and roadside bombs to belts similar to those used by suicide bombers.
It's great to see the US really starting to use their brains well to help a situation that never should have happened in the first place.

I know I'm just as guilty of this as anyone here (trying to turn serious discussion into a joke), but it truly saddens me how hated America has become, and how much pain and sorrow we've brought upon the rest of the world.

According to what I heard, American troops acted like idiots in England during WW2, Korea, Viet Nam and every place else they went. But, I also personally saw British troops acting the same way when I saw them in various places while in the military. So did the Italian troops. So did the Russian troops.
