Hi all
Well far from being a computer wizard, I recently have had persistent problems with the computer, namely in the form of full-screen pop-up adverts and then sudden freezing of the pc, all in all a real pain to say the least !
I of course ran spyware search and destroy - no luck, then Avast Antivirus - no luck, and then aol deep scan -again no luck !
It was then that somebody mentioned checking out AVG. I found the page on Google no problem and downloaded, ver easily ,quickly and FREE !!! the AVG Antiroot Kit, guess what ... sorted out in 10 minutes !!!
Absolutely brilliant I thought. So you might find it useful where all else has failed.
A root attack so I read was where a Trojan or Worm leaves a very deeply hidden trace ,which are often undetected by the usual scans etc :-(
Hope this might help someone.

Yea, it is a pretty good firewall and stops some pretty mean intrusions. It's one thing removing stuff it's another keeping it out to begin with. That's the main difference. Even if you do remove the junk without the firewall there is nothing but open ports to let it back in. Just like a door in your house you have to shut it in order to keep the flies out. Then use the fly zappers to get rid of them.
High five to you..
