...it would be more fun if you could play it with pointy sticks and a helmet...

I used to play a bit of backgammon, back in the day. It is a fun game, and not a brain crusher like chess.

No, but it can be a soul-crusher. You can play perfectly and still lose.

I still play on the computer -- Hoyle Board Games. Nothing quite like playing against an alien who can turn himself into Arnold Schw. and Marilyn Monroe!

Then you should be playing for money and getting rich. Most money I ever won in a single game was backgammon. I beavered an unwarranted double by my opponent. I then doubled him two rolls later (that's eight folks) and he accepted out of spite I guess. At a hundred bucks a game you can do the math.

He really should have dropped. We were about to break contact and I was well ahead in pip count. I guess that's why they call it gambling!

I don't like gambling. That's why I love chess more than backgammon. 😉

IMHO, in chess there's no luck, it's pure scientific psychological war.

Hoyle Board Games are a lot of fun on the computer. Doesn't it have Battleship and you play against these real goofy characters?

Yep! That's it! Battleship, chess, rummikube, parcheesi, etc. (hope spelling doesn't count!)
