It was a close call for me too. However Liszt could do what Rach couldn't, reach 2 octaves with 1 hand!

There is a story that Rachmaninov wore gloves before concerts because his hands were constantly cold because his fingers were so long. I don't know how you reach two octaves with one hand.

i'm sure most people have heard of him but no one has ever heard him play; all we have are testomionials and his own compositions to display his brilliance; i'm sure a few modern day classical pianists could give him a run for his money....

could liszt do bach as well as glenn gould? mozart as well Brendel? how about Rubinstein or Richter?

critics have said if liszt played jazz he'd be oscar peterson....

the greatest..? too many to name... but i've never heard anyone improvise as well as erroll garner and never heard anyone play as fast as bobby enriquez (he was so fast he had the nickname: "The Madman"
