The city water where I live tastes heavily of chlorine. One of these days I'll get a filtration system, but for now, I buy Arrowhead at the store.

    Are you sure?
Water is usually only chlorinated as a temporary measure
against some biological mishap in the supply system.

    I don't.
The requirements of bottled water fall far below that of tap water.
That is why it is inadvisable to use bottled water to make up baby formula.

Stick your tap water in the fridge and/or carbonate it and you'll be pretty happy.

Bottled water is the only kind of water I drink. Drinking tap water would soon make me and my family very ill. I could boil tap water, bottle it, let it cool, and then put it in the fridge, but I don't.

It's tasted this way since I've lived here.

Don't you live in Aus. or NZ?

I would bet you have better water than a majority of the US.

The bottled water I drink is mountain spring water from protected springs. It's not just "filtered tap water" which is what "purified" or "distilled" water is.

I was asking if it was "chlorinated".
People often associate may tastes with chlorine and they are wrong.

i'm in NZ. The water quality is not as high as UK but pretty good.
Obviously local water tastes different but it is all healthy.

Only occasionally and by exception, for example when out walking and don’t have any with me.

Single use plastic is a plague.

Pour it into open jugs and leave overnight, the smell will be gone in the morning. Mostly.

Our local tap water tastes better than any of the bottled stuff, which all tastes of plastic anyway. (Filtered river water from an unpopulated mountain forest catchment.) But if our bushfire summer is as bad as they're predicting, that could change.

Some people like fizzy water. It is easier to buy it bottled so, than to make it oneself with a machine and cartridges to 'fizzify' tap water.
