Confess, who buys it instead of drinking tap water and why?
The city I live in gets water from an aquifer which is the 2nd largest in the US and very pure. I don't ever buy bottled water .

Are you sure?
Water is usually only chlorinated as a temporary measure
against some biological mishap in the supply system.
Wrong. I helped install the clorine injectors on this site. https://www.villagenews.com/story/2014/11/14/community/mwd-approves-three-skinner-rehabilitation-projects-lake-skinner-feeds-fpud-rmwd-more/42525.html it feeds San Diego and Riverside in Ca.

Surely all the chlorine is removed before it goes into the public system?

I was thinking about situations where the water distribution is compromised
and chlorine is added to the water (after cleaning) as a safe-guard and remains
in the system. As in Christchurch, NZ

The way things like this usually work in real life (in America, anyways) is that those on the right refuse to spend the money to do things right, and we end up with half-assed solutions to everything.

Look what happened in Flint, MI.

America could have the best everything, but it usually costs money that conservatives refuse to fork over. They sure love to shovel money to financial institutions, though, and that money usually gets wasted in bonuses and parties and CEO salaries.

Well I'll be very surprised if the water is permanently
chlorinated. (As opposed to treated with chlorine.)

This month's Consumer Reports has a big article about bottled water.
One thing they pointed out, in terms of consuming nano and micro plastics,
those drinking city water get about 4000 bits a year but those drinking bottled get 90,000. Don't know if there are proven health risks to that but there it is.
There are also bottled water companies just filtering city water and reselling it and it turns out to be a 34 BILLION dollar industry.

Stop getting into wars with countries and spending so much on the military. That will save all the money they need to have 'the best in everything'.

The city water where I live tastes heavily of chlorine. One of these days I'll get a filtration system, but for now, I buy Arrowhead at the store.

What about using a water filter on the faucet?

Different filters filter out different things, not sure all would filter out chlorine.
Most people don't change the filter often enough and they become a nuisance.

Why can't your water companies produce good water?
