Well yes, and good luck to you for the semi-final. I really really hope either you or France get rid of those Brazilian posers, but I also hope that FIFA take a long look at the refereeing and take a step back before this game becomes a grass version of beach volley. Materazzi getting sent off for a decent challenge was ridiculous.

Free kicks are to redress the imbalance caused by a foul. Red and yellow cards should be used to punish DELIBERATE fouls and handballs etc, NOT when a player is a split second late for a tackle and takes the other player's legs instead.

He deliberately stepped on Carvalho's nuts. I want to meet the non-wuss who would take it like a man.

It's a red. Simple as that.

Personally I agree though couldn't quite understand why he got the card until I saw the replay. Definite red in my book.

I thought the ref was much better than the majority of referees we've seen in this competition and so I have no complaints. 0-0 was a pretty fair result and penalties are usually a lottery though the Portugese goalkeeper showed that they don't have to be.

Are you saying he did it on purpose?

Edit: I've just seen your other post. OK, so you are probably right because I haven't seen the replay, so I accept your argument and call it a day, however, see my other post about cards and refereeing in general and apply it to the tournament, leaving aside this game, and I'm not backing down this time.

Better than the english ref, if he'd been the ref, they'd still've lost.

I don't much care about losing because I still have Italy, but football is becoming a sad pathetic game and that is what I'm whingeing about.

Yes, if they had let old Graham Poll ref that incident, he'd probably only have given 6 yellow cards.

i pesonally thought it was a bit harsh to give a red, either that or rooneys aim is better than i thought.

he'd be a winner at "pin the tail on the donkey"
