I'm not there.
But many friends and family of mine live there currently... they say it's
very smoky! You're not looking at massive damage, but there is a smoky pall over much of the affected area, very obnoxious looking.
Only the people in the hills are in danger of losses, for the most part.
So not much danger, just inconvenience. If you have respiratory problems it is not very comfortable, of course.
Nasa has a nice shot on their site of the satellite view... looks like a massive cloud over a quarter of the state.

Any American players out there that can let us know of the severity of the 1000 odd fires burning there

Just that i fight bushfires in Australia and we have heard they have run out of resources over there and there is the slight possibility could get sent there.
Originally posted by boarmanAs i type this this is the 14th or so odd day straight of thick smoky haze, and for the past week cars are coated with ash, the sky a thick unforgiving grey haze, you can taste the smoke. i can only imagine the destruction.

oops almost forgot... i posted that link because the NASA images are from last year, there seems to be a shortage of satellite images that are current, accurate, reliable, foolproof, available, etc. believe me it's much worse this year. Seems like the firefighters are a'gonna be real busy this year.

I can only say, set more fires. California was beautiful until the people moved in. Now its just a ghetto disguised as a flower garden. And don't accuse me of trolling. The people of California fight every modern advance and then cry when things go wrong. The forest of this country need periodic burning as any biologist will tell you, but Cal. won't do that systematically. Then the build in threat zones. Like the hurricane people on the costal areas. Bail us out. Give us gov. aid. We will rebuild and be redevastated. And on and on. Nobody cares about the wild life. Just build your luxury homes in fire threatened areas.

No major damage, except to those in the hills.
I weep not.

The people fight every modern advance and beg for government funding? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
We CREATE far, far, far more than our share of "modern advances" and we PROVIDE federal money to the rest of the country. You're clueless.
What state are you in?
