You do know child abuse is not limited to any one Country, Race, or Religion.
Child abuse is world wide. You may want to investigate and look at other areas of the world where it happens on a daily basis, with government either in that country or other countries not doing a damn thing about it.
Lets STOP CHILD ABUSE EVERYWHERE!
You know the expression you are your neighbours keeper!
What part do you play in trying to stop child abuse?
Originally posted by PalynkaThe catholic church hierarchy moved paedophile priests from one dioces to another, and then let them loose to rape again. Brady is just one example of a priest who was moved after being caught raping children...There have been a few reports on instutional abuse in the catholic church here in Ireland, and similar cases of systemic abuse have been reported in America, Germany, and Belguim. This all points to a failing in the institution, and no cover up such as this could be possible without knowledge in theVatican. The Head of the Catholic church here in Ireland personally made kids sign silence agreements after rape allegations were brought against specific bishops...these bishops could've been jailed sooner if these agreements had not been coersed from the victims. The same head of teh church offered his resignation this year and had it turned down by the pope.
Ok, that's two. Jail for them, I would hope. I would not call the whole Church condoning or enabling child abuse.

Actually they have more people against them than those abusing children don't they.

The Taliban had banned the practice of "bacha boys". Where afghanis would dress up young boys as girls and make them dance and then bang them...
Then we show up and kick the taliban out...the practice returns and we even help fund it. http://redstateeclectic.typepad.com/redstate_commentary/2010/12/wikileaks-afghan-child-sex-parties-funded-by-the-usa.html

In answer to the first question; if you feel that becoming Catholic will enlighten you and brighten your life, then go ahead.
What you did say was "I am thinking of becoming".
Thinking about it does not mean you have a 'vocational calling' from God, nor a 'call' from God, or even a Godly experience to have time to 'think about it'. I'd differ with your 'calling' in that it is a want, or replacement for something that is missing in your life. Find that missing thing first, learn to deal and then cope with that, and re-address your first question. The question may not, indeed, even be within you.
