I've no doubt Benitez is a humble coach, but I'm commenting on the club in general over the past 30 years. Plus, Carragher and the fans saying that Liverpool are back to the glory days. They are most assuredly not, since they were ...[text shortened]... id, however, with its galacticos, now THERE'S an arrogant team.
Every one of them has been a battle and even when all the pundits said Liverpool should and will lose they went out fighting and average players played excellent..
Yes they were a bit lucky (so are most teams that win it.. look at the last game where utd won it!) but they also showed great spirit, determination and a hunger to win and left some of the favourites looking jaded.
This is why people are saying liverpool are returning to their glory years. They may not have a world class lineup like Real or Utd but there is a belief in the team now that there hasn't been for years and with a great manager at the helm the fans believe that things can only get better.
Yes their league form has been very poor last season but just look at the amount of injuries they have had, plus a new manager will always take time to find his best 11 and strongest tactics..
Also whats your point on not accepting the chelsea goal? Even the most ardent chelsea fan will concede that if it wasn't a goal it was at least a penalty and a red card..
Let liverpool have their moment, they've been waiting long enough for it.
Originally posted by dk3nnyLiverpool have done very well to get to the final, but they'll have to depend on Milan playing as badly as they did in the semis against PSV. Liverpool will find it very tough to get tight on Milan, a team who can zip the ball around, even when being pressed.

If Milan are on song, I predict a very comfortable 2-0 victory for them. I would predict more, except they are an Italian team, so I'm guessing 1-0 right up to the last few minutes, when they'll get another on the counter as Liverpool throw bodies forward. I really do feel that Milan will have the experience of this type of big game to win with ease.
On the other hand, if Liverpool play out of their skins, and can get Risse to keep Cafu on defensive duties, with Gerard playing the game of his life, and Alonso playing as he did on his comeback game, and maybe Baros returning to European Championship form, then they have a very good chance.

Have you actually been watching any of liverpools CL matches? After Liverpool beat Juve and Chelsea commentators all griped about how those favourites didn't play their best football. Liverpool didn't let them.

Milan will look ordinary tonight and I for one am glad we're not playing PSV who were miles better in the semis and would be just as hungry as the pool to take the trophy.

Against Chelsea there was Lampard missing a sitter, and the controversial line decision.
What has impressed me is the spirit of the Liverpool team, the defending has been excellent and most un-Liverpool like.
Good luck to them from a Man U fan.
Originally posted by demonseedLiverpool defending has been excellent. Scoring, however, is another matter entirely. As Man U can attest, it doesn't matter how well you play in the midfield and in front of goal, if you can't put the ball in the back of the net, you're not going to win.

I prefer to see a team win a cup with a balance of attacking and defending, rather then defend, defend, defend all time, which is what I'm afraid Liverpool would be doing.
Originally posted by dk3nnyI've watched the last three CL matches that they played, the Juventus leg and both Chelsea matches. They have defending down to an art form now in Europe. Attacking is a different matter.

I'm not a Chelsea fan, but I would have preferred the penalty and a red card rather than the very contentious goal. (and even the red card is iffy, because the ref was well within his rights to give a card after the goal was scored). This is the ref in me talking, I hate to see a game (and the match) marred by a linesman decision like that.

Liverpool 2 - 1 Juventus
Bayer Leverkusen 1 - 3 Liverpool
Liverpool 3 - 1 Bayer Leverkusen
I also would prefer is every game was like the chelsea vs barca match but that just ain't going to happen.
At this stage it would be foolish not to play defensively minded, esp considering liverpool don't have that many attacking options.
Baros isn't exactly a legendary goal scorer and Cisse still isn't 100% fit so its only sensible to play defensively and use counterattack, using Gerrard and Risse + Garcia on the wing as an extra attacking element..
At the end of the day, Liverpool are in the champions league final so whatever criticism you have of their style of play is a mute point.

The first Juventus game, actually I did see it, good game at home, great goal by Luis Garcia.
I actually think Baros is a fantastic player, based on his performances for the Czech team in Euro 2004, and for Liverpool right after the tournanment. I don't know why he's not firing lately. And he was scoring goals for Liverpool until recently.
Yes, Liverpool are in the finals, despite their style of play, and I'd have much less reason to complain if they won by a scoring a clear-cut goal. Injustices happen in football, as in life. I hope there won't be a repeat of 2003 final (0-0) and the 2005 FA Cup Final (0-0). And, much as it kills me to say this, here's hoping AC Milan thrash Liverpool. But 0-0 is more likely. 😠

Bet you are not laughing at 3-3.
Club then Country, I'd like to see Liverpool win it. At half time I turned off, at 54 minutes I turned back on, am now amazed.
It would be a greater comeback than ManU's in 1999.
P.S.in case you're wondering I'm a Naples supporteR,EL DIEGO SIEMPRE!
