Winning doesn't bother me.

I can honestly say that I've not met one rude person during a game yet. Even people who I cross swords with on the fora (like Chancremechanic and Slimjim) are absolutely polite, friendly and funny during matches.

I love you all.
I'm not reccing that.

Spoiltdog is great. Very good player, always chats. Fiesta is good, and so is Remora91.

i've always wanted to say 'You're goin' down like a $2 ho, mofo!' before an OTB game, and i recently accomplished this ambition at a tournament. the opponent i was supposed to play didn't turn up, so half an hour after all the other games started i was re-paired by chance with a friend of mine, whose opponent had also been a no-show. It was something we had joked about previously, so i jumped at the chance. I was hoping he would offer a draw during the game so i could try out another line we had joked about: 'Thank you, but i would prefer to crush you like an insect'... Alas, he didn't offer a draw. I checkmated with seconds on the clock, and i have to say he was very sporting in reminding me to punch my clock in the tense final moments when i had forgotten.

edit: i should add that we got some pretty weird looks from players on adjacent boards. most of them were like 'have a jolly good game, old chap!' (i'm in England)

Actually, I rate my OTB chat as 'up there'. I try to keep it pretty social and chatty but stand to be corrected. What say you?

no, but this was in Doncaster, Yorkshire - there were quite a few old fellas who looked like they would be tucking into a grouse or three and a glass of claret for dinner. wandered in from their estates i guess. i say, sport of kings, what? spiffing! tally ho then!
ok, i'm just taking the p*ss a bit. you got me😞

Well, if you and I were to meet at the chessboard, I'd still want the best man to win - I'd just be really disappointed if you turned out to be the best man....πŸ˜‰

This is just about conversation, right? If it's about games I'd obviously name the handful of players I can easily best...
But ah well, here are the opponents I enjoy chatting with a lot:
Freddie, Nyxie, Starrman, Phil Nutley, eagles54, Officer Dibble and Edi74. Ironman was very nice too the one time I played him, but we didn't have much time to chat as the game only lasted... oh no, never mind, I hate mentioning the number 10 when referring to numbver of moves survived...
Paulie seems to be really nice too, I just haven't played that many games agiainst him.
My favorite otb player is Edi74 though. Yesterday I managed a draw... it was the first time I didn't lose! (Ok, so maybe he was playing without his queen..) Really hilarious though πŸ˜‰

Sorry if I've fogotten anybody πŸ˜‰

Angie πŸ˜€

Edit: And I'm a social person. I try to strike up a conversation with nearly everyone πŸ˜‰

Don't worry Angie, I am sure most of us would have been crushed just as easily against Ironman (including myself, of course). πŸ™‚

I like it when players want to trash talk.

It makes the game more combative.

I have not had bad experiences with any of my opponents either, but I have not been here that long. Most of my games are silent, except for those I play against people I have met in person. I had one opponent tell me at the beginning of the game, that s/he was going to beat me, but I didn't let that bother me. Opponents that I have not met who have been chatty, and very polite were Ark13, and Wulebgr. Both were very classy players. I would play them again anyday.
