no, but this was in Doncaster, Yorkshire - there were quite a few old fellas who looked like they would be tucking into a grouse or three and a glass of claret for dinner. wandered in from their estates i guess. i say, sport of kings, what? spiffing! tally ho then!
ok, i'm just taking the p*ss a bit. you got meπ
The only rude person I have played against was Feivel. I got beat by him many times and, despite the fact that his rating was around 500 points better than mine, and that we were in the same clan, he generally started by saying someting along the lines of "you're gonna fry", then followed up by telling me how terrible I was doing, what a bad move, resign now, etc.
Originally posted by XanthosNZI'd have to agree there.. I had 4 games on the go at once one time with him, and he was very courteous.. and chatty.. which I like.. someone to talk to during the game. Delmer and cantspell are two others that I like to play against as they are both very friendly
Churchley. I've played 25 times (lots of rematches sent) and everytime he has been fun to talk to and discuss things with.
I had one game with Ravello too, and we had good conversation going there too.

The only time I've played Moldy Crow he called my girlfriend a frog. Then I swiftly administered the beating he deserved.
The only time I played no1marauder I wished him good luck and he ignored me.
I've always tried to give my opponent a little laugh here and there. Sometimes it works but most times it fails miserably. My favourite resignation ...[text shortened]... s hoping that last line would help with your paranoia. Toadie"
Did he ever know me or what?!
The list of nice guys I've played is almost too long to remember . Delmer was a pleasure . Madam (a dude btw ) is a great chat , love talking to Nyxie and Katty , hopscotch , nook7 .
I'm going to start another thread - What's your short list of people you would like to play to get to know better .

I also pretended to be highly offended by something you wrote, a trick I've enjoyed playing on several players. *EDIT - that was someone else, nevermind*
Originally posted by darvlaySo I of course , offended you again . (Trick I learned in Nam ). Never pass up the chance to kick an opponent when he's down . (Learned that in sunday school).

Originally posted by Moldy CrowI personally don't like to kick an opponent while he's down...unless I REALLY don't like the bastidge. Then I'll bust out my steel-toed boots, and tapdance on his friggin head.

Originally posted by VargI have to agree, feivel was one of the weirdest that played here. It was a great pleasure to have my clan member dilraj rip him a new one in their games.

Originally posted by skeeterAny one of you would pay to play me in OTB chess! π I'm something of a psycho at the table, since my brain is working full blast, and my energy is through the roof. I'm usually bouncing around in my seat, and scratching my head like crazy and making odd gestures when my opponent makes a weird move. My last OTB tourney (it's been so long actually.... must fix that), I remember a opponent of mine made a very odd rook move and I just stopped and pointed at the piece and gave him a questionable look, waiting for him to explain himself. After holding the look for about ten seconds or so, he burst out laughing and said "What?". Then I said "Forget it, you're weird" and went back to focusing. Hehe, I got a kick out of that later on. And I can be a real jerk (that word again) when I'm winning, cause I love to tease. If me and my opponent both see an obvious winning move for me, I'll pick up that piece and pretend to be ready to put somewhere else, then I'll stare at him real hard and look for the reaction, then of course I make the right move and the opponent will usually give me a angry/confused look. But yes, I must enter another OTB tourney soon, been too long till I had any true fun playing chess.
Actually, I rate my OTB chat as 'up there'. I try to keep it pretty social and chatty but stand to be corrected. What say you?
