Racism is equiprimordial with structural inequality or de facto inequality and therefore to call a black person racist in a society that is struturally (or otherwise) racist does not compute.

It is nothing more than a natural reaction against the inherent racism of the system.

You could find examples of inequality and racism in so many things if you looked hard enough.

But how many minority ethnic people are truly offended by the game of chess? I suspect not many. I live in a 90% Muslim country and have a lot of experience of different cultures. I am studying Arabic now (to go to work in Egypt), with a Turk, in Kyrgyzstan, and have just taken a week away from my studies to go and stay with an Uzbek family in a Kyrgyz town and was taken to the bus station by an Afghan friend. Most of them play chess and none of them have ever complained about its politics. Then there's one of my students, number 2 chess player in Kyrgyzstan (and prospective member of RHP), from Afghanistan and not bothered in the slightest by black moving second.

When chess becomes an issue which threatens to divide society we can take it seriously. Until then, 😴
