I used to enjoy the General Forum TOO, in the days I was considered to be a laugh, witless, humorous and and of some use, now and again. The mis-fun takers gets to us all in the end. I'm off too - even though you've heard it before.

Good riddance to mikelom. I know you'll say it anyway!
mikelom is gone
he's left us here on our own
but not before he bid us fond farewell

Just remember what he said
Health and family before friends
Think about it

He's gone and lost forever!~

Blah, blah, blah...

You should wear you bright pink "I LOVE Darv" t-shirt so it's easier to spot you clinging on to the back of his bandwagon.

Welcome to General Forum 2.0 powered by R.N.S.O.A. technology. All posts which bring a smile or a frown, laughter or tears, or any other emotional response are hereby deemed inappropriate. Bland (preferably vacant) expressions are to be worn by users at all times.

Users are encouraged to self-report any and all violations of the bland facial expression policy (BFEP) to a member of the the moderation team via PM immediately following the offense, requesting absolution and a forum ban for repeated offenders:

http://www.redhotpawn.com/comhub/volunteers.php

For your convenience, the BFEP will be automated in the much awaited General Forum 2.5 release due out in Q4 2009, using your computer's built in webcam and the latest facial recognition software.

Thank you. Your cooperation during this transition is appreciated.

Does that mean we have to stop imagining all RHP users under 18 in full operatic clown attire, and all RHP users over 18 as peanut butter-covered nudes?

Why, Mike? What's happening? Always imagined you would be one of the last stout hearted sailors, in stormy winds, to stop pulling for the shore.

Well, I always imagined him as a sailor too if that helps any.

You need to remember why you..why we all.. joined RHP. To play chess. The Forums are totally unimportant. This is a great site. It gives me something to do in my spare time... I'm not very good at chess but I enjoy it nontheless. My advice is to not spend so much time on the General Forum. After a few days you'll wonder why you ever bothered.

Actually the fact that the Forums here are much more active, diverse and vibrant is about the only reason to chose RHP over competing sites, most of whom have better features for chessplayers.

But a tiny minority seem intent on making the Forums so censored that this sole advantage will be lost. And unfortunately the policies the site is adopting are making their dream slowly come true.

Since there are only forty or so regular posters from tens of thousands of members, that proves that your site requirements are not widely shared. Most of us log in during a lull in play to see who is throwing their toys out of the pram and about what. Sometimes it's interesting, but mostly it's puerile and pointless...you're talking to faceless people with made-up names who, a lot of the time, are taking advantage of their anonimity to post aggresive and deliberately offensive opinions.

You should Send Feedback and suggest all the Forums be closed since they are soooooooooooooooo unimportant to the vast majority of users here IYO. The site itself advertises the Public Forums as "the core of the 'Red Hot Pawn' community".

Not sure where you get either the "forty or so regular posters" from. And there are hardly "tens of thousands" of active members here.
