So far so good mate. Got a boat trip from the guys who saved to passengers at the Miracle on the Hudson, had a few good meals in China town, and managed to get round the subway/transit system with the help of the locals, the wife, and the grid system.

Time Square is a bit pricey, but apart from that we've no complaints...people have been helpful enough to get by.
