So I've been stuck in hotel quarantine in London for the past week, the room is nice and I have a view of a park which is nice, have even seen a few squirrels. We're allowed out once a day to get some air in what I call the prison yard, spoke to a guy from India who was stuck in a smaller room without any windows so could be a lot worse.

But the food service, oh god. Their welcome sheets state that there's supposed to be a 2 day menu too choose from that we're supposed to get and fill in, it doesn't exist and they just thrown some food up when they can be bothered. Breakfast is supposed to be from 7-9am but regularly arrives after 10, this I don't mind as I don't wake up until 9 anyway. On Monday it didn't arrive until 11, lunch is supposed to be from 12-2, on Monday a vegetable with very few vegetables wrap appeared at 4:40pm, I complained and they sent a pizza. Later than night the dinner never arrived, supposed to be served from7-9pm, called about 10pm and was eating at 11.

The same thing happened with lunch on Friday, didn't appear... called and they said it had been sent, after about 90 minutes waiting and bitching finally some food arrived. The food for the most part had been fine, I don't like sandwiches for lunch, it's not food so yesterday when a sandwich appeared for the second lunch in a row I asked them to stop and send something hot. Place is full of south Asians, give me the same as them.

So today, what arrives but a sandwich again, called reception to say I requested something else and they said that's all they had so I asked to talk to a manger. Called a random number and asked what they had, spoke to what sounded like an Indian woman who had a veg curry. About 30 minutes go by and no call from the manger so I call again, they again say the manger will call. I wait until 3pm still no call so leave the room and go down to reception, the manager of course is doing nothing, called him up on lying to me twice and said I'm going to sit over here until it's resolved.

So move to one of the chairs overlooking the reception, the guy from security has to follow me around outside the room at all times, I sit for maybe 10 minutes until someone else comes over, explain the situation and they tell me to go to my room and he'll call me to arrange whatever I want to eat. Tell him ok but if there's no call I'm coming down again, 5 minutes later someone calls and 25 minutes after that I'm eating a lamb curry they order in from somewhere. The lesson, need to complain... do it in person.

Hate this place.

What was the reason for you travelling to begin with?

Ok, and the possibility of getting stuck there, so is it all working out well?......Obviously NOT!

Something I've been thinking about the UK's quarantine policy is that something worse than Covid-19 might incubate during the two weeks of quarantine, after which completely crazed people will be unleashed upon the public at large.

First, thank you for a post with some content. I do get so tired of finding nothing here except KE and VR and their nothing posts.
Second, I'm with you when it comes to complaining. Why would anyone waste their phone money on call centre monkeys with no knowledge, only scripts? Not that counter staff are much better, but they hide behind their managers, who are terrified of bad publicity.
And if your grievance has a physical form (such as food) face-to-face is a positive pleasure ...

Count the squirrels before and after the curry. Just saying that as squirrel counting is good mindfulness. 😁

I think they should serve extra good food as you are stuck there with nothing much to do. It wouldn't cost them a lot to do that, just creative thinking.

Dayamn! I already have two thick volumes of Sean O'Casey on my bookshelf, but it seems I might need to make some room for that post of yours. 😉

Plus, I've seen the photos and Trev was prone to concavity when younger.

BTW: Any verbal conversation is much more pleasurable in person don't you think? 🙂

I can't see you in a physical confrontation with anyone! 😉
