This part of the American psyche always amazes me. Its ok to spend trillions on killing people in another part of the world, but help one guy try to give up an addiction?? "You're wasting my money!"

But you can assume every American thinks the same way?

Weak. When did I say it was ok to spend money on weapons?

Actually, to be honest, I almost said, "better get back to work so I can generate more tax dollars for weapons and rehab". I just didn't think the weapons thing was particularly relevant in this case, so I left it out. I'm against the war and I don't eat fast food. Enough with the generalizations.

EVERYBODY loves generalisations! FACT!

BTW: Would you prefer to have loads of people trying (and probably failing) to give up drugs on their own, instead of spending a couple of dollars of your tax dollar to help them correct mistakes they may have made earlier in their lives?

I guess I spoke a little hastily. I do think (some) publicly funded rehab programs are a good idea. I'd like to help anyone who genuinely wants to get better. I was reacting to ATY's statement where he said he never saw his friend so motivated as when he was out of weed. I know some people think that's cool and funny. I just think it's sad. Nothing against people who can smoke and handle it well. I've certainly smoked my share. I just don't think it's right to glamorize people who waste their lives struggling with addition. It's that "culture of stupid" that pisses me off.

If it was legal, you could tax the weed for this purpose. Unfortunately due to prohibition you have to pay for it.

Actually, he's in detox for prescription pills of some sort (Adavan?). They cause addictive behaviour which is why he became so nuts for the marijuana and beer.

In some cases there can be paradoxical effects with benzodiazepines, such as increased hostility and aggression.[23][24][25][26] This is thought by some doctors to be due to disinhibition, and is therefore more likely to occur in those with preexisting personality disorders, who may have less than average inhibition...

...Among benzodiazepines, lorazepam has relatively strong amnesic effects...

That's him lately!

I remember reading the caution section of his pill instructions, and there being something about how the drug makes one more prone to addictive behavior in general. I don't know if it was the Ativan or something else. He was on a few prescriptions.

Well, I just got offered full time work. However due to this incident it's likely they'll take back their offer and fire me from the other job as well. I just got a promotion. My performance has been fantastic, but you dirtbags who keep marijuana criminal are keeping me from earning an honest paycheck. It looks like I may be unemployable.

Thanks, America. If you find your tires being slashed, just remember, what goes around comes around. You ruin my life, I'll do my best to ruin yours.

It's not like I have anything better to do...like say, going to work...

Wait, it's our fault that you're an unemployable drug addict?
