I couldn't believe they had to qualify - they're the holding champions and they have a good OD team! After today's game Brian Lara said something along the lines of thank you to the ICC for letting them play the 3 extra competitive games in order to qualify. I couldn't tell whether he was serious or was being sarcastic and having a dig at the ICC.

It's good that in reality any of the teams could make the semis
then it's a poss of a coin aussies have batting depth on all pitches, spin, pace and super sharp fielders.
Hats off to our Humble NZ team they have less than a quarter of the top level cricket matches and still manage to do well... you always have to rate Steven Flemings teams as in with a chance.. oh for a top order bat..

If you take India for example, their main problem is a lack of quality pace bowlers, and no coach can do anything about that whatever his nationality.
