Croth Crickets are crab lice that you get when you blokes play rugby naked....it can be passed to cricket players if they sit down to urinate, and one of the critters pole vaults from the basin of the crapper and lands on your johnson....then you will have "croth crickets"...permethrin 1% usually kills 'em.....just trying to help you guys out...
Go to http://www.cricinfo.com and check out list of highest scores ... couple of anomalies and a couple of big scores against weak opposition - but scale of SA's win is VERY impressive - any wicket any opposition.
Take note of how many top scores were from sides batting second. Very few.
and some times it just all comes together .. like sometimes it all just falls apart.
The only problem with it as a contest - unlike 99 is that it wasn't that meaningful. (OK 2-2 with one to play - but they have so damn many of these contests these days.) ...but it was a great spectacle.
The next one might feature 2 great bowling attacks and side A beating side B with scores in the 150's. Life's rich tapestry .. a funny old game etc etc

Agreed - which ground a match is played at is always a factor, but also 20/20 is having an effect. One commentator here pointed out that batsman are suddenly realising they can take more risks and quite possibly get away with it.
Bowlers may have to adjust their own strategies accordingly.
I loved seeing the aussies getting bowled out for unter a ton just as much as the millions of other cricket fans around the world (except those down under), but that was just bad shot selection and pressure by SA.
ODIs are about the runs, not batsmen trying to get to grips with a gravel road for a pitch.
Test matches are there for grafters and bowler strategies, ODIs and 20/20 games are there for boundaries.

20/20 is like ODI with the slow middle overs taken out.
Originally posted by VargThat's not what I meant. ODIs are a more tactical game that 20/20 which is basically just a big slog out. THe 'slow' bit in the middle is the interesting bit for some people, others enjoy the fast pace of the 20/20 wihtout it. It depends what you are into, but there's no reason to say that ODIs are obsolete.
Exactly, so ODIs are now obsolete!

Fair enough, but I think having both types will be a bit much.
The schedule is busy enough as it is.
What's going to happen now is we'll have more specialist players. Every country will have a specialist test, ODI and 20 over team, with only a few players overlapping into different 'categories'.
A new age has started 😉
