Dark Computer Monitor

I'm working on a laptop right now (Dell Inspiron 8600) and the screen is just too dull for my comfort. I tried increasing the brightness, but that honestly didn't help at all. It's just...dull? Anyhow, any ideas on how to make the screen light up more?

Perhaps you can fenagle some better results by adjusting the contrast.

Have you tried checking the picture setting within the OS? You should be able to software adjust the video driver to enhance the image.
