If that is true, then why was Bush re elected? Seems to me you should be protesting the Gov't, not the troops carrying out their orders?

Its sad how during a debate of views, you choose to see only one side of the picture. How about the poor prisons of the other side who are continually MURDERED, or did you forget about them??? Fact of the matter is, had a lot of folks not stood up to people like Hitler, you wouldn't even be allowed to talk like this. That's the wonders of freedom. ...[text shortened]... lies. Seems to me the least we could do is to support them, or is that too much to ask??
You are right, the War in Iraq is becoming this generations Vietnam war. We have the WMDs representing the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. Abu Graib as the My Lai Massacre. The similarities go on.
But of course things turned out peachy back then and I'm sure they'll do so again. 🙄

Sounds like you're the one that bleeds pink, Coast Guardsman. What, didn't have the balls to join a real branch of the military?
I think he wanted to join the Navy, but went into the women's room by accident 😉

CM knows who I am and why I said that. It has nothing to do with attacking him, but his choice of service.

Do you ever see any ex-Coasties on your carrier?...didn't think so. It was no accident that I went into the ladies' room at the 32nd St. Enlisted Men's club, especially when a BJ was promised by a West-Pac widow...he, he,..... 😉 😀

Of course no one leaves the CG for the Navy. Go out fishing off the coast everyday and get paid for it! Who would want to leave that 😛
Originally posted by Saint NickYou are mistaken, and that surprises me. The Coast Guard is a member, and THE premier leader, in the Department of Homeland Security. If you've been to the Persian Gulf lately, you would have seen plenty of Coast Guard activity, from boarding suspected terrorists small-craft to protecting oil platforms. We have Coasties in Bahrain and Kuwait. We have 378s' that accompany your task forces in the Persian Gulf and provide LEDET (Law Enforcement Detactchment) services on your behalf. We pulled up the fishing poles the day after 9-11, and were the only "real" recognized ass-kickers during Hurricane Katrina who didn't screw-up, rescuing 25,000+ stranded victims. I'm sure you guys were there too and doing your part. As soon as the Hurrican passed, CG helicoptors were out in force, not waiting for "red-tape" beurocrats to give the "green light" to begin SAR (Search and Rescue). As I stated, my ID card says the same thing as yours does: Armed Forces of the United States. More repeat: We served in EVERY war the US has been involved with....WW2, transporting Marines to all the Island landings in WW2, brown water boats in Vienam, etc...yeah, many compare us to Baywatch, and that is the CG's fault I'm afraid, but don't underestimate our contribution to the defense and service to the U.S. I'm proud of my Naval service and would never belittle the Navy, but I am completely happy in the CG, and it was a wise choice on my part to switch sides....hey, do you know why there are so many beuatiful children running around Navy Housing? You guessed it: West-Pac....😛

You know, it's people like you that make me hate ex military. You act like everybody owes you something.

Actually I did a deployment with a CG ship in our battle group long before 9/11. We had a cutter go with us in '99. I'm not sure when they started sending CG to the Gulf, but it was long before the Deptment of Homeland Security.
I also did not know that you guys got Geneva Convention ID cards. I guess that it makes sence though.
Nice joke. I actually have never heard that. I just turned around and told that to my co-workers. That's pretty damn funny.
Have you been hanging out at the Trophy Lounge?
