@a-unique-nickname saidgood for u but where does it leave the ones that cant afford insurance, who would insure me, Heart attack, heart failure, diabeties, irregular heartbeat.I have paid 50 years of tax and nhs contributions as have millions.
With inflation they'd be daft to accept anything less than 10%, that's what I meant... demanding 35%, which is an impossible figure given the state the NHS is in and the money lost over Covid and Brexit doesn't help anyone.
In my opinion which albeit doesn't count for much large sectors of the NHS should be privatised, I'd rather pay an insurance policy and get an MRI scan when needed rather than waiting 9 months on the NHS.
@a-unique-nickname saidIt sounds like you are happy to be, effectively, an enemy of the public sector workers. You'd rather see it all privatized? You have your balls in the tabloid dog-eat-dog vice of coroprate interests.

@badradger saidSounds like you haven't paid enough.

@fmf saidI didn't say or mean all. The NHS was a great idea but it has failed. Separating urgent/life threatening illness like cancer, heart attacks etc which would remain NHS with non-urgent/life threatening care like a dodgy back etc would free up money that could be used to support those who really need it and result in a better service.

Waiting 9 months for an MRI that is in the end redirected to the private sector but paid for by the NHS isn't good enough, the system is broken.
@badradger saidLife choices, a person who looks after themselves paying the same as someone who doesn't and uses the service more. Is that fair?
explain?
@a-unique-nickname saidYou're spreading pro-privatization and pro-corporate propaganda. My friend has been diagnosed with [eventual] terminal cancer. Diagnosis. Tests. Medication. Straight away. Treatment starts two weeks later. Free. London. Not private. NHS. When did you ask for your MRI scan? When did they say "wait 9 months"? You're just regurgitating propaganda.

@fmf saidNo, I'm stating facts. Having cancer and a dodgy back isn't treated in the same way currently. Now, the waiting times in NI are longer than the rest of the UK for a number of reasons but yes, 9 months.

I wasn't told 9 months by anyone, that's how long I waited from referral to appointment being offered, luckily in that time I had been in Colombia and went private there, paying a fraction of the private costs currently in the UK.
Believe me, I'd rather the NHS was adequate for everything and everyone but it isn't and it's never going to be.
@a-unique-nickname saidNever smoked, drank moderatley, kept resonably fit,I cant help being type 1 diabetic its not a life choice, my afif(rapid heartbeat)is hereditry and the HA & HF are due to the Afib, I think you have a bloody cheek making assumptions about me and my lifestyle.....on top of all that I worked in the flooring world for nigh on 50 years.

@a-unique-nickname saidYour propaganda talking points are crumbling. Ah yes, you weren't "told 9 months by anyone". I don't believe any of your other "I favour privatisation" prattle.

@a-unique-nickname saidYou've been cowed and anaesthetised by the corporate Tories and the cap-in-hand power [and corporate donations] at all costs craven Labour Party.
Believe me, I'd rather the NHS was adequate for everything and everyone but it isn't and it's never going to be.
@a-unique-nickname saidExactly. You have been dosing on the corporate novacaine. Yawn, indeed. No fight left. Just a shrug and "the NHS has failed" and "I favour privatisation".
Yawn.
@badradger saidMy apologies. I did assume you were a chain smoking, borderline alcoholic... not going to lie.
