I found an Ipod nano a couple of weeks ago and have just bought a charger/USB lead for it. When I plug it in to my USB port, a pictire of a battery comes up on the ipod screen but not a lot else happens. No movement or anything, and it is completely unresponsive. Also, the PC didn't detect it. Is this normal behavioour for such a thing?

Certainly is that one Darve. It did work at first until the battery ran out of juicy stuff. SO now I'm trying to get the little freaker up and running and on ebay.

The battery picture, means it's charging. I'd leave it on there for a few hours, then see if it plays. My computer doesn't always recognize my ipod either. I think you can fix that. Just make sure it works first.
Also, try rebooting the ipod. I think you have to hold down the center button and the menu (or play) button at the same time (for a few seconds).

I think so too. If it says "Do Not Disconnect" then you have it properly attached to your computer. However, if your computer is different than the one that Nano was originally operating on, you may have to restore it and re-install the appropriate iPod software to get it working correctly.

Whenever i plug my ipod into the front usb port on my computer it does not register it, but when i plug it into the back it works fine. but this might not be the case if you have a laptop which i think has one usb port. anyways try a different usb port if you can. Or take it to the store and ask them.
