So far we have:
AThousandYoung
Daemon Sin
rwingett
Seitse
Freddie2006
Starrman
eagles54
KnightWulfe
MIODude
Please remember, this is a long term committment (a year or so, one move a week). There is nothing more annoying to people who actually play the game to the end than other people who just quit. This hands the nation over to a retarded computer brain. It's really irritating.

Originally posted by rwingettWhy do you think you got eliminated early? You seem to be brutally effective in NE and MD. Did you just piss off the wrong people? Maybe you were too aggressive in one direction and got hit in the back by someone else?
Seven months is closer to half a year than to a year. I don't know if it takes any longer or not, though. I got eliminated pretty early both times I played.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungIn my first game I trusted someone a little more than I should have and was, of course, stabbed in the back. Lesson learned.

In my second game I expanded too rapidly. I spent all my gold annexing provinces right and left instead of building an adequate army. A group of jealous neighbors ganged up on me before the income could start rolling in and I was done for. Another lesson learned.
I never really got a chance to get going in either game, so my brilliance was never much of a factor. So I want to try again against weaker opponents, like you RHP chumps. π

What is the set up for it? Can you still use diploware, or do you have to use something else? And what is the layout of the map...in space; different planets, or different lands on a planet or what? I'm intruiged.

The map is one big land mass with smaller islands around the edge. It's a fictional continent inhabited by Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Humans, etc.
Originally posted by Freddie2006Each game has it's own Diploware. They're all very similar though as you can tell from the useless "Scouting" section in the MD Diploware. The layout of the map is a medieval fantasy sort of world. You can look at the map on the discussion group:

It actually looks quite a bit like the MD map, but twisted around. There's one major continent in the center, some large islands in the northwest ("Britain", occupied by Halflings and Elves), a "Mediterranean Sea" looking sea between "Europe" and "Africa" (which is a desert filled with evil Nee-gros and Ay-rabs *cough* I mean Undead and Orcs)...
There's no "Scandinavian" lands (map looks like it was cut off too far south to include them) and there is an ocean where Jerusalem is in MD. If you go to:

And cut out the Scandinavian nations (but not the northwestern part of Novgorod's territory) and stretch the western side north to fill the gap, and cut off Byzantium and anything east of it, and take off a little from the bottom too so Egypt is off the map, you'll have a map that looks something like the DL one.
