I think it's about time we got a game that didn't include Prince Machiavelli. But I think I might hold out for the space game... uhhhh... Galactic Something?

I'd be happy to try that one as well. Does anyone else want to play that one instead?

Galactic Warriors.

I'm in turn 15 in a game.

Here I am, harrassing the crew of the Enterprise:

Here's the latest from Bo, the DL GM. It is in response to my telling her (him?) that we won't be ready for a month or two.

It is your game and on your time table. The more you can fill it the more control you can have over things when we get to setting it up.

If you get a multiple of four, then you might want to consider the Team games. Your friends can divide into teams of four and then go against one another from pre-planned blocks. In the Team game format there is not team switching and you can only win with the four you start with. That is the only special rule to be in a team game. It is highly likely that I could find one or two more teams to finish out the game if that is the route you decide to go in.

I hate all that plagerised Star Trek mumbo-jumbo. If everyone decides to switch over to it then I'll sit this one out.

I, too, am bitterly opposed to this Galactic Warriors mumbo-jumbo. If everyone decides to switch over I'll slay you all.

A nice concept. Reduces the ugly ship-jumping and backstabbing and grandstanding.

I also just thought it might be nice to play a game where one (or more) of the players (the RHP players anyways) didn't have a huge experience edge on the others. We all see where that is taking us in the first MD game.

I only mentioned I was leaning that way because I'm into sci-fi, without being a Star Trek clone (there's a LOT more to sci-fi than Star Trek, grasshopper)... I think it would hold my interest more, and, being an experienced VGAP player, I thought I might have a better chance than with a historical period I'm hazy about, at best.

Of course you're free to do what you want, as are we all.

How do you like it? How does having completely unfamiliar units and stuff affect your game? What's the map like? How many races are involved?

Sorry for all the questions. I admit, I've done little research into the actual mechanics... I'm going to download the diploware for GW and check out the tutorial at least.

I'd be fascinated to see what races or groups you could be. But it looks official; this will remain the DragonLords sign up sheet. If you want to try the Galactic one, make your own sign up sheet and stop cluttering this one.

EDIT - I am repulsed. They have a large selection of possible races, and several are direct transplants from Star Trek. You can be a Klingon, Vulcan or Romulan for example. That clinches it. It's DL.

We're all experienced players now. So no one will be able to use that as an excuse next time (assuming we have the same group of players).

Ship-jumping, backstabbing and grandstanding are what the game is all about. The rest is just mechanics.

Latest note from Bo:

Hello,

You have said that you have several players who all want to play in the same game together. You and your friends may be interested in the Team Game format. I am taking sign-ups for it now. If you are interested it would not be a problem to fill out more than one team, however, it is important to remember that there can not be any team switching. Once the game begins you are on the team you enter with.

Sincerely,
Bo

P.S. Royalty or Commoner is not a factor in the team games.

I am inclined NOT to go for the team game, but to work together (or not) in a regular game. However it didn't seem to work tremendously well in the vets game.

EDIT - Apparently no one would know who your team mates were except you and them. You can ally as normal, but you can only declare victory with your original teammates.
