A few years ago, when taking the usual walk, for some inexplicable reason I chose to deviate from the normal route, and ended up totally lost in the lake district where I live. Had to be traced by police helicopter and picked up by police car.
It's easily done, while in Ecuador I went on a solo one day trek, plan was simple go from one village to the next across an "easily signposted path". Unfortunately it was coming to the end of rainy season and after about an hour of walking I realized that the path was no where to be seen. I could see the village on top of a hill that I was trying to each and below me a river that led to the foot of the hill... just need to get down to the river and follow it right? On the way I met a little kid who offered to show me the way I think for about $10, can't remember exactly but being stubborn I refused and went on alone, not long after it was getting steeper to the river than I first thought, almost vertical at one stage so going back wasn't an option and to get down to the river bed I needed to make a bit of a jump over to a small ledge, miss it and it was a pretty nasty fall down. Thankfully after about 15 minutes thinking about it I went for it and made it fine but walking along the river I stepped on a rock and crack, would later find out that I had broke a small bone in my root. Walked along with the pain towards the village and met this time a little girl with her mum moving some sheep, of course this time when she offered I took her up on the guide, showed me to the path and about 6 hours after leaving I finally arrived, took my boots off to find an already swallowed food. Could have been worse, soon after arriving it started to rain heavily, so at least I was dry 🙂

I noticed my halo has gone off kilter a wee bit. Wonder if that has anything to do with the new growth(s) starting to protrude from the left and right side of my my frontal lobe. 🤔 😲
