Methinks that there is a little bit too much concern with ratings reflected in these posts.
A few losses to a strong player with an 1100 rating won't affect your rating in any measurable fashion anyway. I think dustinrogers should have as many games as he pleases, and if you don't like it, don't play him.
Personally, I think I may boycott him just so I can maintain my + score against him! 😀 He's the only really strong player who I have an overall positive score against, thanks to one game where I surprised him with a mating attack out of the albin...

Dont let em get you down D.R...youre an RHP legend! #3 MAP and climbing!
What about all the non-subscribers which would have to waint until automatic timeout kicks in. They won't be able to get a new free slot for ages! DR is a hero for them!
;-)
Am I the only one that thinks that these ratings are a little bogus? Rated chess is meant to be played as timed live games, is it not? I may be wrong but I know I would fare much better in lightning game with a live opponent with a 1600 or so rating then I would over-analyzing every move, forgetting my initial strategy and becoming impatient in a game where i am down. Nothing against this site, it's still fun as hell...
Originally posted by darvlayThere has been ratings in correspondence chess for a long time, I believe. We're rated for how we perform within the rules of the site; I don't see how that is "bogus". How you would or wouldn't perform in an OTB lightning game is irrevelant; you can get a separate rating for that by playing in local tournaments.

I havent read all this thread - and cannot be bothered - I reckon I know the central content .......
Anyone who plays massive numbers of games suffers massive rating fluctuations.
I believe this can be fixed ...... the elemant "k" which stabilises the ratings of the highest quality players can also stabilise the ratings of the highest quantity players.
