@the-gravedigger saidFair cop.

@pettytalk saidI still say that in the instance of a bored housewife, some speed would be a better choice than some tranq.
Valium is still prescribed for managing anxiety disorders. A person is controlled by anxieties which, with panic disorders, keeps them from performing their daily activities. The activities that have come to be dreaded, and are starting to drag one down, which are becoming unbearable and difficult to bear. Valium keeps them calm and focused on the tasks at hand, by slowing ...[text shortened]... lass housewives in the 1960s. Valium was one of them, and the one hinted in the song, I would think.
They're not anxious, they're just tired.
You try being a soccer mom. I bet you couldn't do it.
@the-gravedigger saidThat was a rich quote coming from him! He used psychology often at tournaments. He was always complaining about the lighting, etc. He'd get the organizers to bend over backwards to accommodate him - moving him to a special playing area, etc. or he'd threaten to withdraw if they did not.

@suzianne saidI think you did not understand the song. We were talking about the song's lyrics.

And since I'm a man, I would not even try to be a soccer mom. But I was soccer dad, once or twice, and I was successful because I grew up playing soccer.
Seriously, speed is not the answer for moms nor for dads. Have you never heard that haste makes waste? How about the signs on the road? Speed kills!
@mike69 saidDo you not think women get tired raising kids?
Bored, are you kidding, do you have children if so more than one?
Notice, please, I did not say tired of raising kids. It's just not my bag. I have plenty of friends who have kids, though. I've seen the toll on marriages. I babysit those kids to give mom and dad a date night once in a while.
I'm single and I doubt I'll ever have kids, unless I adopt. Not getting married to a man in this lifetime.
@drewnogal saidJust like it's used in the song, yes.
I think she used ‘bored’ in the sense that housewives may find the housework & kids stuff monotonous and tiring, with little time for anything enjoyable for themselves.
@bigdogg saidThat was down to paranoia rather than psychology.

@drewnogal saidIt doesn’t matter how she used it she’s still wrong. She seems to think that’s all that is dealt with daily and it’s a small portion along with many stressful directions. Never enough time in the day never caught up. But she does have her crystal ball ya know.

@mike69 saidHave you ever listened to the song in question?
