The first iteration of the site was launched by Zuckerberg on the 4th February 2004 in his Harvard dorm room from his personal laptop.
I opened a profile on the site in 2006 but rarely share anything there now, preferring instead the immediacy of WhatsApp for keeping in touch with friends and family.
As the bullying, hate posting and sexual abuse continues to escalate one does wonder what the long term negative effects of digital social media platforms are having on society and wether there will be gradual migration away from their use, especially as the various generations mature.

WhatsApp I use a lot. Family. Friends. I manage my work with it and interact with clients. I use it for sending people files. For sharing links. It's the only type of phone I use. I use it for making videos. I use it to organize and make radio programmes.

20 years, my how time fly's.
I started a FB account to get details on an upcoming class reunion in 2013. but shut it down a few years later. It was fun for a short time, but got boring after awhile.
Personally, I think social media is overrated. We have snail and email, fax, phone, text, skype, zoom and other means to stay connected - do we need social media on top of all that? I think not.

I like it for 1 thing Facetime,I can see my relatives in Oz anytime for free.
Facebook sounds like a safe place to be, away from the incessant Twins. The twins are not identical, thank God. The tiny-minded one should be sent to reform school.
