The root problem of obesity in Western nations (US and England) is our cheap food policy. Probably the same for Aussies as well. Large farming conglomerates have successfully lobbied government for years, and have forced smaller family owned farms out of business. The food from small farms is healthier, and usually chemical free. When allowed to compete without interference from the government, they are highly competative.
Try reading the ingrediants on your pre packaged food while shopping. You will find a lot of fructose, and wheat products. Ingrediants that you would not likely use at home cooking from scratch. There has been proven a direct corallation between the rise in obesity, and the introduction of fructose into our diets.
