In the UK it is known as Black Forest gâteau
which always struck me as schizophrenic.

Another of my favourite "cakes" is, "un morceau de gâteau"...easy-peasy.

Do you have a German version of the Polish Makowiec cake?

For those who are unfamiliar it looks like a swiss roll but not with sponge which has a black filling made from poppy seeds.

Yes we do, it is called "Mohnzopf" where I live.

Yes we do, it is called "Mohnzopf" where I live.

I like the sound of that.

My family in Nagasaki sometimes send us castella sponge cake. Can't even begin to describe how good it tastes.
