If only England could have won that penalty shootout... Argentina would have won the final and Maradona known as the best player ever 😉
@Wycombe-Al saidI think it was just before the last Euros they showed a documentary about the 96 euros. We all remember the Dutch game but actually other than that match England were pretty poor. They certainly had the best football song ever though. I think 2002 was a better team, had you beaten Brazil (unlucky not to) probably would have won that.
best team England had at a tournament was the 1996 euros, that was a crazy summer, that night we kicked the Netherlands arse and we actually managed to win a penalty shoot out against Spain, and Gazzas goal
@diver saidKick off today …

@diver saidThere is a scouser who came through Liverpool's academy in the squad - Anthony Gordon. Has there ever been an England squad without a scouse player??
No Liverpool players in the England World Cup squad for the first time since 1986.
Ex-Liverpool players Henderson & Quansah are in.
Quansah came through the Liverpool academy. Arne Slot subbed Quansah at half time during his first match in charge and never started him again. He understandably left for Leverkusen to get first team football, but there is a buy back clause in his contract which is causing much speculation with Slot gone and Konate leaving for Real Madrid.
World Cup's are won by teams with good defences. Obvious question marks about the lack of football for Stones, but of course he has been training with Guehi for six months at City. I've never been a Pickford fan, but he is the keeper who has been given the experience. For me, a lot will depend on Elliot Anderson's ability to protect the back four. If that improves us defensively then who knows.
