In your mythology, Earth is flat. Why are not the rest of the planets in the solar system flat? Probes have orbited Mars for decades, Jupiter, Saturn likewise and a lot of the moons, none of which show flat, so why would Earth be singled out to be flat?
I think that according to most flat-earthers satellites don't exist. and the universe is just a small dome around the earth. the sun and moon go in circles around the earths face. the earth ends at Antarctica which is actually a massive ice wall surrounding the earth.

All planets are flat. They circle the earth on the plane of our solar system.

We have flat heads too, and we're not really moving, but everything else is moving around us. When we walk the ground moves, but we aren't getting anywhere. When you jump the ground is pushed away.

Then there's the question of the tides. It seems we know that the gravitational force of the moon causes the tide. If the earth was flat, to my way of thinking, there would be no tide. Right?

No I am not having a laugh, I do not find you funny.

And don't speak to me like we are anything but enemies.
I despise and detest you, try to remember that.

As I explained in my first post in this thread, the Earth is not a mathematical object.
We have no equation dictating the precise shape of the Earth, we MEASURE the shape
of the Earth and t ...[text shortened]... r question.

You can opt not to like or believe that answer, but it's an answer none the less.
More of your painful stabs at sounding relevant while spewing nonsense.
How you feel about me could not have less consequence... kind of like your opinion and input on this matter, coincidentally.

This tripe you attempt to pass as reasoned statements of facts is nothing more than gibberish.
There most definitely is an accepted formula rate for the curvature of the earth, an accepted equation which has been used for many years.
That you foolishly declare no such formula exists only underscores why your pronouncements aren't taken with any seriousness at all: your knowledge on the topic is laughable.

The earth is "not a mathematical object," and yet "(a)s time goes on our measurements get more and more precise."
It's difficult to even type those words of yours out without giggling.
You really should invest in an editor; some older more seasoned person who is able to read your inane ideas before you click the Post button and keep you from looking like such a blooming idiot.

Get thee to a school of any kind, sweet boy.
Post haste.

You declared the formula wrong or the earth was flat.

I said then the formula must be wrong and asked to see the equation.

A simple request.

I cannot read minds and deduce your formula.
As I have already challenged you on, show where the calculation commonly used for determining the rate of curvature for the earth is wrong.

As I have also challenged you on, quit your stalling and get to it.

As I sat through the first thread about this in Spirituality and now this one, without a peep, I insist that you tell me if you seriously believe the Earth is flat or if you are, indeed, "taking the piss" from all the posters in this thread.

You can just shoot me a PM if you don't want to ruin the fun. I promise not to spill.
Dear Suzianne:
The purpose of the inquiry is two-fold.
Challenge those who "know" something to be true to "prove" the basis for their "knowledge," and consider the ramifications of that "knowledge" being wrong.
I'll save the PM's for when I've had a few too many...

I see you flip from saying Earth is flat to Earth is an oblate spheroid. First off, which are you touting? And second, if Earth is flat, is the moon, or Jupiter or Mars? And why would the finding that planting a stick in the ground straight up and observing them say 1000 km away and seeing shadow on one and no shadow on the other, you never answered why that would be.

If you're addressing me, I've not said the earth is an oblate spheroid; that's from that "genius" Neil deGrasse Tyson.
He actually declared the earth to be somewhat pear-shaped.
Guess he hasn't seen all of those perfectly round circles NASA has produced over the years...
The sun is much, much closer than we think.

Tiresome.

That's nearly exactly what I thought you'd come up with, given your inability to either research what the assumed rate of curvature for the earth is as well as your ineptitude at analyzing where/how it might be in error.

Good job keeping up appearances, though!

The votes are in. The Earth's not flat.

Next?

I demand a recount.
Those who have voted are unqualified on the topic.

Additionally, I submit that truth is not beholden to a democratic process.
