@drewnogal saidBut you decided to use a sexist, male-ego-baiting phrase for the subject line because you like to poke the bear or kick the hornets' nest and then complain about the consequences?
Shocking story, just heard how a man held a female under the water in a swimming pool by her feet after she had repeatedly overtaken him during lane swimming.
Having been a regular swimmer in the past I’ve been subjected to aggressive male swimmers in pools who thunder down lanes with every intention of hitting you as they pass.
I don't doubt your stories. I doubt your intentions.
@kevin-eleven saidAn untimely and regrettable title I must agree and foolish on my part. I picked it up on the radio with the story which really was of interest to me.

I’ve gave up on swimming in March 2020 after lockdown. At that time I was able to swim a mile. It had taken me ages, about 6 months to get there being 65. I had plans to return to open water swimming in the late spring. I have 2 fantastic swimming wetsuits, they cost £500. The winter one is particularly good as I don’t maintain much body heat in water having a BMI of 21. Anyway, to continue with my story ( still there? ) ..... it’s really frustrating when you work hard to build up a level of fitness and then see it disintegrate over the weeks. So, I knew I’d have to go through returning to months back at the swimming pool, developing my fitness before I could even get back into lane swimming! It had been my intention to solely pursue open water swimming and never, ever have to return to a horrible public pool again. I’d joined a few open water swim groups on facebook and they seemed to be a great group, passionate about very cold dips. Oh, and I also paid for 2 private swimming lessons to improve my freestyle stroke and it really did. I had the timing all wrong with my breathing you see; not having ever been professionally taught to swim. I couldn’t swim out of my depth until I was 17.
@drewnogal saidWell, I dunno. At the very least, it allowed Duchess64 to draw me out into the open and "expose" me, apparently, as a butt-hurt hateful lying troll with a wounded "fragile male ego". I got thoroughly duffed up. So that'll be a "win" in some people's column.
