I'm a tight git and my free Avast antivirus has now run out. Can anyone tell me another free reliable antivirus I can download - I also had zone alram the year before so please don't advise this one either!!
P.S. I am virtually computer illiterate so please don't rattle on about technical specs. I just want it free!!

Cheers for that but when I looked it only appears to be free for 30 days. I'm really really tight so do you know any that are free for a year?

It's free permanently. Don't go for the pro version, go for free one.

The fully-featured product is free for 30 days, but (unless they've changed it since I downloaded it) AVG Free is simply free for non-personal use. The only downside is that it doesn't have features such as high-speed update servers, 24/7 tech support, and advanced scan planning. If you don't need those, and you're not using this for your business computer, you should be able to download it, and after 30 days it will just go into Free Edition mode, but it will continue to run.
