Which gaming computers are good for multi massive online role play games? What is most important in a gaming computer? I am looking for one in the $1000 to $2000 range. P.S. That top line VooDoo PC cost as much as a car.

Simple answer for you, speed and cooling. If you aren't sure what to get, go to a computer shop and have him go over the options with you. I would also recomend getting it custom built. This way you will only get what your needs will be. Don't be afraid to do some shopping for a system either.

The games I am looking at are set for future advanced graphics. The games I am concidering are EverQuest 2, Lineage 2, Darkfall and Horizons. I am considering going to the local computer place and having one built. Before I try that I would like to have some idea of what I want or need so I will know what to tell them and what they are talking about.

Here's a good site for info on building your own. Even if you don't do it yourself it will help anyway.

I like http://shsc.info/PCPartsPickingGuide as a source for good impartial information.

Also don't listen to anyone who claims that the flashiest most LED covered piece of crap is what you need. It's almost always isn't.

Good processor, front side bus rate, video card and lots of ram.
I'm saving the pennies for a dual core processor.
MMMM..... Dual core processor!

Go for an AMD powered Quad SLI with 2 Nvidia 7900GX2 setup with 2 Gb RAM and for heaven's sake get a decent monitor which can actually display the graphics you're putting out.

Hey. I've noticed people rarely mention the monitor when it comes down to hardware spec. In fact that's probably the first time. Are LCD screens up to scratch yet, or do CRTs still come up tops?

also-remember that it's not the no of bits that determines the speed of your processor. it is a factor, true, but the overall speed of a processor does not just depend upon that. a 2.5G processor is not necessarilly faster than a 2G one.

As others have said, the best thing to do is of course to build the computer yourself. I reccomend checking out Dell and building something there. You can do pretty good for a good price. I built my computer for around $4000 but I went with top of the line for every part of it and it is in a server tower because of how much stuff is in it. Not sure what I'll ever do with close to 2 terabytes of disk space but hey the future awaits. I purchased everything from different sites for the best deals on the best stuff.

LCD's will never top CRTs but, LCD's just take up so much less space its hard to stay away from getting one over a CRT. I couldnt imagine what my desk would look like if i had a 27in crt instead of an LCD.

Dell suck, any person setting out to build their own PC should seek out advice sites and visit part suppliers, asking before they buy. Paying a multinational company reknowned for poor quality and system configurations which make replacing or upgrading parts as expensive as possible, is foolish.
