Of course, that is good. I try to get locally bred chickens rather than the mass produced ones.

Chicken has long been considered a healthy alternative to red meat. And it is indeed low in saturated fat, contains higher amounts of omega-6 fatty acids than other animal meats, and is high in protein and essential vitamins and minerals such as B6, B12, iron, zinc, and copper Feb. 8, 2021.

I concur, that is why it is good to know where you are getting your chicken and that they are antibiotic free. The thing is can you count on that? I guess we take a chance every time we get in vehicles too!

I knew an islander who always had a live chicken around to cook which was strange to see in a city with more than 100,000 people.

It tasted better than the store meat 🤔

The odds are no antibiotics in his chicken.

This is the point. I get that here easily down in the islands. I also have wild chickens running around the village. They belong to somebody but nobody cares.

Isn't that what the antibiotics do?

No, antibiotics is for disease as the chickens are crammed into a small area and living conditions are not healthy. Growth hormones is for speed growing. It is estrogen or testosterone. The changes in teens so early in the last 40 yrs or so is attributed to KFC and meats with these hormones. Boys getting breasts and girls developing faster than previous generations.

Yes, of course. I don't think we have a way of knowing if we buy from the store do we?

Do they have to indicate on packaging that the chicken has growth hormones?

You will have to do some research into your country's practices. Growth hormones are banned in some countries. But chicken producers find ways of getting around the law. The can put it in the feed, the water, inject the chicken with other suff to swell it up and enhance the taste. This is why I try to eat from people who dont even know what a growth hormone is .. one of the advantages of living in a 3W$$hle country ... lol. And as VM said the thing tastes better.

No doubt VM is correct about that.

I am going to have to do some research on this. I think most of our chickens are locally raised with no growth hormones in them or injected with antibiotics as no need. I haven't heard of anyone being sick from eating anything, but we have a lot of farms around my area that grow them and sell to the big stores like Sobeys and Superstore, Loblaws.

Ask them also what are they being fed with. GM corn for example is probaly not good. Check into that as well.
