I did not think you to be a German. Why would the Germans call the U.S. Marines Devildogs? There seems to be a thought that the Germans did not use the term for the U.S. Marines.
Are you sure you aren't German yourself?
What we need is some sort of test for infiltrators, like in Stalag 17, the William Holden film. Hmmm... I suppose I could ask you sports questions -- who won the world series in 1935 -- but I don't know the answers either.
How about this:
"Roosevelt -- der verdammte Schweinehund!" Agree or disagree?

And they let you? Did you have to register at the local police station as an enemy alien?

Norway did, some years ago, aggressively recruit for nurses in Germany. They offered a three-month, intensive language-training program prior to departure to Norway.
Originally posted by Mark AdkinsNot only nurses, but also doctors. However, I am not a doctor either, and I wasn't recruited, but found the job on the webpage of the Norwegian employment centre and applied. I got free (you could even say paid, as they counted as time at work) Norwegian classes when I arrived, although I didn't learn very much there. However, it was interesting to meet people from many different cultures, and I was also quite glad to have shorter days at work because it's very exhausting when you don't know the language very well.
