Often during my lunch break, I'll hop in the car and drive down the street to the gas station to get a soda or a pack of gum or something. Lately I've noticed that this one girl behind the counter always wears gloves. Nobody else there wears gloves. So I'm wondering what disease she has or what she's touching that requires her to wear gloves all day/every day.
I was sort of curious/worried, so yesterday I said to her (in a friendly tone), "Got those gloves on all the time. Don't want to catch people's germs." I was hoping she'd say something like, "Well, when you're touching money all day at the cash register, it's probably best to wear gloves." --but she didn't. She just smiled, handed me my change and took care of the next customer. WTF!!??
Today, when faced with the decision of where to go to get a drink, I decided not to go to the gas station. I went to the grocery store instead--even though it's a slightly longer drive.
What would you do? Would you risk tuberculosis, e-bola (or worse) and continue going to the gas station, or would you find another store to shop at? Even better, maybe I should buy a full hazmat suit and hang around the gas station taking "readings" with a homemade instrument...just to antagonize these people.
I did a little research, and discovered that the Tychem LV555T - EX Commander Level A Suit (ideal for the kinds of conditions I usually encounter) is available for only $767.70. I'd also be interested to know if anyone here owns a hazmat suit and what your experiences have been.
