In the UK our lower jaws have dropped to the ground in astonished puzzlement at why the great American peoples continue to have faith in the pathetic puffed-up anti Christian Trump. He stands for everything that true Christians despise while using his faux Christianity to wheedle his way into the gullible hearts and minds of people who are experiencing great cost of living suffering. In some twisted schizophrenic way I think he really does believe that he is God, like the Caesars of Ancient Rome, but his icy megalomaniac heart is cold and cruel.
@Pianoman1 saidAmericans were promised "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." They didn't get it--the happiness bit, that is, and they're mad. Somebody stole their happiness and they want it back--what's more, they want to punish whoever stole it. They want vengeance. That is what Trump embodies for them: entitled rage and vengeance. There is no deal breaker for those people; they know he's a con man who raped children. They know he faked an assassination. They know he started a war he can't finish. They know the price of diesel is too high because he started a war he can't finish. They know he lies. They know he is no Christian. They know he is not going to heaven. They don't care. So long as he targets people they hate, they will support him. Foreigners. Mexicans. Illegals. Lefties. Libtards. Blacks. Trans-people. Smart people. Educated people. Scientists. Uppity wimin (people like Suzi here!). So long as he targets those people, they will continue to tell themselves he is doing God's work, albeit unwittingly.

@moonbus saidWhat a depressing assessment of the average Joe American’s pent up rage against minority diverse groups. I hate to admit it, but I think your’e not wrong.

@Pianoman1 saidSeveral generations of Americans have seen their wages stagnate and their earning power eroded by trickle-down economics. The gap btw the ultra rich, and the middle-class and working-class poor has grown, both absolutely and relatively. Several studies have confirmed this, using different metrics. This has led to ressentiment, deliberately spelt the French way.

Look it up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ressentiment
It's a thing, and it's got America in its grip.
This is what Trump has tapped into and stokes with his rage-baiting speeches and Truth Social posts. He's not the cause; he's only stoking the symptoms, and the pent up rage is directed at all the wrong culprits. Trump himself is too dense to comprehend what he is doing; so long as gets to play emperor and name things after himself, he's pleased as punch. He doesn't give a damn about tanking the world's economies or starting WWIII or burning democracy to the ground.
