229. then, just as sheila was preparing for her date with ken, she thought over Fritz's instructions - did Fritz literally mean to have ken's baby, or was it more a metaphorical concept to go and do something with him that otherwise might substitute for the same concept but ultimately involve similar involvements but with a different intended outcome? of course, having ken's baby, while a significant commitment, and something that would serve the purposes of the greater good, would not be an unpleasant assignment, if not as pleasurable as sampling 86% dark chocolates. Still, sheila pondered, those weren't truly mutually exclusivel, if approached the right way, thinking back on the embarrassing stains when she walked into the meeting that day.
Originally posted by Kentron231. Fritz was beside himself. Why hadn't Ken taken Ben up in one of those aircraft? He had planned it so well, the tampering with the fuel tanks, the loosening of the wing struts, the severed control cables. Damn that interfering hussy Sheila and her irresistable body. Was Ken so smitten by her curves, long legs, amble breasts and her mind to be so easily taken in. Had Fritz made a mistake in bringing him "on board"? He told himself that if he wanted things done properly he'd have to do them himself. He went to the airport and purchased a first class ticket to New York and arranged for a private jet to be waiting there to take him to Bangor's Airport. He'd do them all in.......yes in one felled swoop.
230. Ken liked the line that Fritz was calculating. He didn't know if Fritz was being literal or metaphorical, he never did, but he liked the concept and was not opposed to further simulations. Besides he liked, intelligent minds, Carne Asada, and 86% dark chocolates.

233. and sheila's second thoughts dissipated when, after the main course of carne asada accompanied by a second margarita supreme, the server brought them a pumpkin flan to share. She was ready, right there, in the booth. Fortunately, the chef came by to ask how they enjoyed their meal.
237. Miguel, the chef's 9 year old son, came up to ken and sheila with a display of crafted artifacts (weaves and painted tubers and stones and hand-painted kerchiefs and amulets) to see if they wanted to purchase them while Kervey spied through the window with his binoculars, a 30.06 with a scope locked and loaded, at his side. the boy said in a soft tone, follow me out the back way. i will lead you to a low level passage that goes to the next building. you can escape from there. he went on to sell his trinkets at several other tables before making his exit. Sheila, of course, excused herself to the ladies room while ken waited for the check. kervey's hand nervously stroked the rifle hidden under the blanket, already trembling ever so slightly. a bogus police dispatch was made for a robbery in progress five blocks away.
238. the young boy led Sheila through a maze of boxes and storage shelves, then behind a false door and through a narrow dank tunnel to emerge in the basement of the coral essex hotel with the buzzing and flickering neon sign. he said that his uncle fernando had a car with a full tank of petrol wating for them and he would show her where it was. he also had the key. she thought that he might be a little bit precocious from the way he was giving her glances up and down. boys do notice pretty girls with a nice figure, she thought. was he really that young?
239. Ken wasn't exactly sure what happened to Ben or how he himself got from the airplane hanger to the cheerful cantina beneath the I-80 overpass. Perhaps a flashback or a flashforward or a missing line number to be filled in later. He didn't care, he had enjoyed the meal and the dessert and was looking forward to a second dessert perhaps later at the nearby hotel. The flickering neon sign had caught his attention. He was a chosen master of coded messages, but as he paid the bill and left a little something extra for the tip and an amulet trinket, he had no idea that Kervey M. Witherlee was parked outside.
240. Ken had watched the boy take Sheila by the hand and lead her off through the cantina storage room. Ken finished off the last of his date's margaritta, grabbed his field pack, and left the table to find his friend.
Through the dusty storage room, he followed the tracks to the false door, down the tunnel, and into the basement where he caught up with the child and the adult.
