Well, in fairness, your "Great sporting moment" was a tap in; mine was 1 of the greatest games ever played, which just happened to be won by a GREAT team.

A game isn't a moment, Rag.

And a tap in with the heel on a European Champions Cup (not just a lowly FA) is indeed one of the greatest moments in European Champions Cup history.

United against Bayern as well, much more than this final of yours.

Edit- The dying minutes of the game, I mean.

You too, yankee joe?

Not one sporting moment has been mentioned yet in this thread. Baseball is sport. Sport is baseball. Everything else is a waste of time. Therefore, the greatest sporting moment of all time was Kirk Gibson's three run homerun off Goose Gossage in game five of the 1984 World Series.
You gotta give it up to Bret Saberhagen pitching a shut-out in the 7th game of the World Series in 1985! We'll ignore the fact that it might never have occurred if the umpire had not blown that call in the 6th game.

Yes. How long has Babe Ruth been dead? But he's still the greatest sports icon of all time.

Let's not get into semantics, some of the original posters "moments" must have gone on over hours, like the long jump contest. In history, hours become moments for some sports, and that's how that 1999 FA Cup Semi-Final will go down. THE greatest sporting moment EVAR!

A great compilation, obliteration.

That home-run wasn't even a walk-off.

Joe Carter, '93. 'Nuff said.
That was a good one. But he hit it for a Canadian team, which disqualifies it as being 'great.' Plus he hit it off of Mitch Williams. Not exactly Hall of Fame material there.

Only in baseball ...

One great sporting moment for me is Jonah Lomu's effort against England in the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

Still makes me laugh! The best bit was when, after brushing off about 14 English players without so much as a shrug, old Diana's boyfriend Good Will Carling Black Label, the captain, stood up one the try line, and said- 'You shall not pass', and Jonah ran not around him, but just straight over him and touched the ball down.

Classic.

It helps if you hate Will Carling. Ahh.

Ah... the good old N.F.C.. I like the Arkansas 57ers this year. They are much better than the New Luton Water Buffalo in my book, and tonnes quicker than Jacksonville Rattle Snakes and Scary Spiders. (Nobody F.star.star.star.i.n.g Cares).

What about Italy completely outclassing the Germans in the last minutes of year's World Cup Semifinal? Nice. 😀
you didn't see the final play with 8 seconds left did you?It looks awesome even if you dont know squat bout football.
