I never was into 'Indy Rock' so I'm not sure what that's all about.

Can someone give me an Indy band, I might be able to listen on Pandora.

Is it an insult?

Sorry for that. The context in which I use 'wannabe' is
'amateur', somebody who aspires to be serious one day yet
is currently not.

What big buzz? What does "Indie" mean to you?
mtv, big bucks, ripped clothes and expensive haircut that's supposed to look like it was cheap? 🙂 just like mainstream, only packaged so you can say you're not a mindless drone paying WB's executive bonuses. something like that. 🙂

Here is some info, I didn't even know this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannabe

Wannabe insinuates you are trying to be or do something you never will in my mind.

No problems!

Aspiring is a better term, even if someone has no plans to ever be mainstream.

hey, worm, know a good local band worth listening?

[ please spare any band that may play in holes where a
non-white person may not be received well 😉 ]

of the term when it popped, what is now, what are your thoughts on
it, etc.

I just remembered conossieurs speaking about it in
magazines and radio shows, and nowadays I hear nothing
about it.

So, care to share?
To me, the terms Indie and Alternative have always bugged me with their vagueness. It's a hipster phrase which has no real definition or meaning, in my opinion. At one point, Indie stemmed from Independent, which makes a certain amount of sense but that says nothing about the type of music it is and makes the description a little useless. I guess when people use it they're comparing you to Pavement. Anyways, I stay away from using the term Indie as much as possible, as you should to.

That's what it is now, for sure.

EDIT - Rec'd.

There is a guy who makes quite strange electronic music, and
has a piece called 'Satana', but can't catch the name... rings
a bell to you?

nope. well, I think they're the kind of group that doesn't really ever die, and might whip up a tour if they just feel like it.

I'm gonna throw in one band that's absolutely great, the '22-pistepirkko'. it's an old one (I see there is an 25 year aniversary gig at tavastia club 3.11), but still alive and kicking.

no idea what that 'satana' thing could be about...

Hey, great one. I'll be there! 🙂

Well, it's electronic music, sort of trip hop with some
ethnic sounds, and the titles of the tracks are in Finnish
(as long as I remember), so I assume he/she is a local...
can't remember the name.
