Aye, indeedy. Recently been appreciating a bit of Finnish psych-folk. Kemialliset Ystavat and Avarus are a couple of the bands I know, though have the odd track by a number of others. Guess there msut be some sort of scene in Finland, but whether it extends beyond about 50 people I couldn't honestly say. Do you know anything about it?

1. If you could afford any guitar, which would you buy?
2. I am selling my hollowbody Ibanez and my Les Paul and buying a new guitar. I am thinking of the Maton BB1200. Any other suggestions?
I'd keep the Les Paul.

I am a bass player.
My bass of choice is and always will be my beautiful 4000 series rickenbacker in midnight blue, beautiful body, full fat, warm sound. Everything I dreamed of.

Well, I bought my dream guitar: Ibanez RG550EX (http://www.ibanezregister.com/Gallery/RG/gal-rg550ex.htm - the black one - actually glittery black).
But of course we always lust after something else.
I've always wanted a Gibson SG in cherry, but I've never owned a genuine Strat either so I'd like one of those - the Buddy Guy one is nice, and they are the ulti ...[text shortened]... big fan of retro myself, but Gretches, ES335s, Burns and the like are popular at the moment.
Ah yes, the SG very nice. Just checked out the Ibanez. Very nice indeed. Looks like a shred machine.

I've never heard of Maton, but apparently Tommy Emmanuel has one and he loves it, and he is one of the greatest guitar players in the world (he's even Certified! 🙂). Could be a good one.
Yeah, he is an amazing player. I have actually had a lesson with him (my old guitar teacher was friends with him). Really nice bloke. He was doing all this trippy stuff with his classical guitar and a delay pedal. Never heard anyhing like it.

Les Pauls and guitars in general are very much like people. they are all different. I have played some LPs and SGs etc. that were very nice, and some that totally sucked. That is why I always recommend find a particular guitar and buy that one.

It can be, but it's not full on metal.
It has a fast neck and 24 frets. I could never understand why all guitars don't have 24, it seems obvious to me.

Anyway, I forgot: I love the look of the PRS guitars (although I haven't actually played one):

The Custom 24 is beautiful, like most of their guitars, but very expensive.
I'd say this is my current dream guitar (based on looks, but they have a good rep as well).

i saw a tele "thinline" a couple of months ago, and i fell in love...

http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0137402321

as for buying on the internet, one of my friends got a strat for £500 off e-bay (it's worth slightly more...). american made, excellent condition. it's very nice! i suppose it is a bit of a lottery-he was lucky and got a very nice guitar at a very nice price...

but i think i'll just stick to my second hand epiphone les paul with dodgy pickups and a large dent (tip: angry drummers throw sticks...). it's got a nice tone though. very deep...i really like my guitar 🙂

Buying a second hand guitar on the internet is not something I would ever do - unless it was a cheapo thing and I knew what I was getting.

But a new guitar will be guaranteed so should be no probs.

I have never found a Les Paul that I didn't like. The best guitar definately for the Blues and Slide guitar work. Had a Strat once that I loved so well but some low life Son of a Biscuit eater stole it from my shipping crate when I left Germany in 88. I hope the strings turn in piano wire and sever his grubby little fingers off. Or even better he was electrocuted when he hooked up the amp. Or he had it in the back seat of his car and had to hit the brakes hard and it flew forward embedding in his damn head. Yes I'm upset. I hate thieves.

He left it on the sofa and sat on it... took the morticians 2 hours to remove his smile.
