They were armed but it happened so fast nobody on Earth, Bruce Lee or anyone else could have stopped it.

I fully read somewhere that the 2nd is there to defend the country against foreign invaders.

2nd amendment - "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
"Well regulated militia", not so much anymore. Originally intended, to the best of my knowledge, to prevent government tyranny. Perhaps one of the more astute American history buffs can verify that.
Otherwise, in my opinion, gun ownership is for personal defense. The right to bear arms "shall not be infringed".
