I see a dichotomy here.
It appears some (most) are operating under the idea that Haiku is counted out in syllables of 5-7-5.
I was taught that Haiku is counted out in metrical feet in a 3-5-3 pattern. My one offering fits this model.
Thankfully, it appears that Haiku in English is so far from its roots that any attempts at "standardization" is laughable, bordering on the true "snobbery".
