Only hitch to that theory is they can't find a canditate star. My guess if it were true that star would be within a couple of LY of Sol, but nothing has been found closer than AC at 4 and change LY. At least so far.
It could still be a brown dwarf, basically an extra large planet that didn't quite get fusion going but if it were, say, 10 times the mass of Jupiter and swung into the outer reaches of the solar system, it could still cause havoc with those Oort cloud objects.
