Hedgehogs are among the most domestically neglected animals. They make cute and loving pets, but many people are scared away by unrealistic horror stories about their quills. Allow me to assure you, you'll have no problems with quills, or your money back.

The reason for this public message is to tell the world about the hundreds of thousands of unloved hedgehogs currently residing in animals shelters. If you don't give them a good home, these hedgehogs will be put to death. So please, compassionate citizens of the world, adopt a hedgehog from your local animal shelter.

Unfortunately, you didn't mention that hedgehogs are vicious predators who can bite a child's arm off if given half the chance. So make sure you hunt down and kill all hedgehogs.

P.S. That photo is obviously a fake - real hedgehogs are 6 metres long at birth.

my pet hedgehog sits on my lap while i play chess moves on the interweb.
sometimes it purrs like a sports car, sometimes it bites my children's arms off.

Shouldn't that be "my children's flippers"?

They purr when they're about to strike - quick, pm me your address and I'll send a S.W.A.T. team round.

It was yours? Sorry, I had no idea! I didn't steal it, it came to me of its own accord. I suspect it only came because it wanted to eat my hedgehog. 😠

Well, that's all right. I suppose you can keep it. Make sure you feed it well. I hear there are a lot of hedgehogs at animal shelters.

I was walking my dog [huge German Shepherd, sadly deceased] a few years ago. It was 2 am and as we went through a car park he spotted a hedgehog wandering around. We both went for a closer look and all of a sudden it turned round and advanced towards us......when the dog legged it I thought he must know something I didn't, so I legged it too.

Is it true hedgehogs have loads of fleas? Geezer down the pub reckons they do?

It was probably looking for a good juicy car to eat. Your dog legged it because he knew he would be used as a toothpick afterwards.
