thanks guys, I really appreciate the pointers. From what you've said, and Paulie's link's info, I'm betting on the memory stick being knackered (I only have the 1). I've tried replacing the memory with some from a friends PC and instead of beeping I got an error message saying that the memory was unreadable. Problem is my PC is soooo old I'm not s ...[text shortened]... y buying a new one right now.
