How did the people on the top of the player tables get there? I know I have the potential to get there, but I want to go faster than my current pace. What strategies are there to increase your rating faster?

Play the higher rated players, Duh............ and as a provisionally rated player you'll only reecieve half the points you would after 20 games so dont expect to see any major gains fo a while.

Use an engine is the easiest if you actually care that much. Of course that's against the rules so don't do that. Looks like you just have to play some games first 😲

In all seriousness, the best way to get to the top is to play a few games against highly rated players.
For instance, from the 1st page (picking 2 names totally at random) why don't you challenge Gatecrasher User 62147 or Cludi User 86517 to a game or 2.
If you were to win, I reckon you'd raise your rating 40 points or so. Not bad for one game!
You'd go from about #1700 on the player tables to #1300 or so, moving up 400 places for just one game!!!!!

Of course, there's a 99% chance you'd lose against these players but even when you do, I'm sure you'll learn something useful & you'd hardly drop any points anyway.
